Here we show you multiple ways to perform both methods on your computer. These methods work on Windows Vista, 7, 8. If you are looking for a way to hide one or more user accounts from the logon screen but would like to leave others visible, then this is the solution that will work.
Note: It is important to note that once the account is hidden from the logon screen there is no other way to access it. If you need to retain access to the account but still hide it from the logon screen, use the alternative method to hide all accounts and force manual logon. While this option is not that difficult, it does require a bit of knowledge of how to edit the registry. If you are uneasy doing this, use the other options such as a third party tool.
Click Start and type Regedit to open the Registry Editor, administrator privileges are required. Name it SpecialAccounts.
In the Name box type the name for the user you wish to hide from the logon screen and press Enter. Close Regedit. This change usually takes effect immediately, logout or restart to confirm the user is hidden from the logon screen.
To restore the user go back into Regedit to the same location. REG files that you can simply double click to import the data automatically into the registry.
Then save the file. There are 3. REG files in the archive, one to hide a user from the logon screen, one to make the user visible again, and the third will make all currently hidden users visible.
Download Hide User Registry Files. This little tool is only 63KB in size and we found it on an old blog called Scenario-Solution. Hide Users appears to have been created in-house. Run the Hide Users program as administrator, select an available user from the drop down menu and it will tell you if the user is currently hidden or visible. Click the Hide User button to hide a currently visible user or Show User to do the reverse. Download Hide Users. As the name implies, this was created several years ago during the XP era and although it does also work on Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10, there is a major limitation.

Thursday, January 20, AM. Hi, I wanted to do the same, follow the initial instructions and then was also blocked, because I hide the only administrator account. Found 2 solutions apart from using Win 7 DVD to correct the situation: I activated previously the remote session, so I was able to login with Remote Desktop with administrator account, I know not everyone could have it enabled, so the next option should help everyone: In standard or guest account, Shift-Right Click Regedit and select "Run as different user" and then I was able to use the hidden account and revert the setting or run any other process.
The objective from my point of view is a combination of security and facilitate the common users login, is that common users only see standard account on welcome screen, but when needed, a power user still can do configuration tasks.
I will test if doing option 2 when needed is a feasible way to administer this secured computer. Sunday, February 13, AM. Friday, August 26, AM. Hi, First of all, you have to logon to your system using current administrator password. Click the Start menu and in the search box you have to type control userpasswords2. You could click the control userpasswords2 under the Programs. This would launch User Accounts dialog box. After that, you need to enter your current username and the password.

This works well. I had a problem with one of my computers. I typed the user name call it OneAdmin and followed all the steps, but it still kept showing up. I went to Start, Right clicked on computer then manage.
